Cosmelan Depigmentation Peel
There are a large variety of chemical peels available on the market today. Almost every skin type and ethnicity can find a chemical treatment designed to restore a youthful appearance. Not all procedures will provide the same results, however. One of the newest chemical peels available at Keylife Med Spa is the Cosmelan Depigmentation Peel, effective for managing areas of hyperpigmentation, melisma, and blotchy or scarred skin.
The Cosmelan Depigmentation Peel is a unique, multi-ingredient chemical treatment designed to reduce areas of skin discoloration and hyperpigmentation. Melanin is responsible for creating the skin tone, as well as splotchy areas of darker tissue. The Cosmelan Peel decreases the skin’s natural melanin production by inhibiting certain enzymes, providing an even complexion.
What is Diamond Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion, commonly referred to as “microderm”, is a cosmetic treatment in which the face is sprayed with exfoliant crystals to remove dead epidermal cells. With Diamond Microdermabrasion small diamonds are fixed to the microdermabrasion wand used to perform the procedure and the small diamonds essentially scrape the surface layers of the skin off leaving fresh and smooth skin.
Microdermabrasion is not a painful procedure. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, you may feel a scratching or mild stinging during treatment or a vibration, much like a massage. There is no anesthesia involved. Your skin may be pink and slightly swollen after microdermabrasion, but these side effects typically last only a day. Your treating dermatologist will apply a soothing moisturizer after the treatment and give you a sun protection plan to protect your new layer of skin.
Microdermabrasion can improve:
- Oily or dull skin
- Enlarged pores
- Clogged pores
- Fine lines
- Mild acne scars
- Mild complexion problems (such as uneven pigmentation or poor skin texture)
What Are The Risks of Microdermabrasion?
When performed by a certified skin care professional, there are minimal risks with microdermabrasion. Most risks are associated with performing microdermabrasion under unsterile conditions or improper application of the treatment.
Patients are at risk of contracting infections if the microdermabrasion applicator and vacuum are not properly sanitized. At Key Life Med Spa we properly sanitize all equipment and maintain a clean sterile environment, one of the many benefits of having this procedure performed in med spa environment.
If the machine is improperly used at too high a strength, there is a risk that the patient’s skin may be perforated by the fine crystals that are used to exfoliate the skin. Our aestheticians are seasoned, skilled and trained on the equipment used to perform microderm so you can be sure you’ll get the results you really want.
There is also a risk that when improperly applied, the microdermabrasion crystals can enter a patient’s eye and cause irritation. These negative side effects of microdermabrasion are very rare, and they will not occur when the microdermabrasion procedure is properly performed. Coming to Key Life Med Spa and seeing a qualified aesthetician for treatment can greatly reduce possible microdermabrasion risks.
